3 Ways to Get Voice Over Business From Your Demo Reel

Aug 02, 2022

If you're looking for ways to get more voice over business, look no further! In this blog post, we will discuss three methods that you can use to get more work from your voice over demo. Having a great demo reel is essential if you want to book more jobs and make a name for yourself in the industry. So read on to learn how you can stand out from the competition and attract more clients!

Number One: Ask for feedback on Why You Were Hired

The first place to start when looking to know what is working or not working with your demo reel is to simply ask. After you book a gig, reach out to your new client and ask them what it was about your reel that made them want to hire you. This feedback can be invaluable in helping you understand what is resonating with people and why they are choosing to work with you. It’s also a great way to build relationships with clients and show that you are active in the industry.

This also gives us a way to find out why the client chose us based on the different reels on our demo. If we ask, "What demo spot helped you to determine to work with me", then we can take that information and utilize it to get more work.

If we find out that the client likes the fourth spot on your demo, and you continue to get more feedback from other clients that they like the same spot, then you know that is a good place to focus your marketing efforts and switch that spot to the first slot on your reel.

Using this data is the best way to improve your overall conversion rate and get more voice over work.

Number Two: Keep Your Reel Updated

Your voice over demo is like your resume - it should be constantly evolving and changing as you book new jobs and gain more experience. Make sure to keep your reel up-to-date with your latest and greatest work, so that prospective clients can hear your range and what you are currently capable of.

The voiceover industry is always evolving, so it is our job to make sure our demo reaches the audiences that we are marketing to with the right message. This message should be updated every few months, or sooner if we have made significant changes to our style or work.

I also think that doing research into what your clients are looking for on each specific website you are on will give you the upper hand to see if your demo is reaching them where they are. If it is not then you know that your demo reel needs to be updated.

Number Three: Make Sure Your Demo Reel Sounds Great

This may seem like an obvious one, but it bears repeating - if your demo reel doesn't sound professional, you're not going to book many jobs. Make sure to invest in high-quality recording equipment and hire a professional audio engineer to help you put together a top-notch reel.

If you want to get more work, first you have to convince people you can handle it. And the best way to do that is to have great-sounding audio.

You can do this yourself, or you can hire a professional. But, if you are going to do it yourself, please make sure that your equipment is of high quality and that you know how to use it properly. It is a large investment so make sure you spend some of that money on coaching. We all need help when first starting out, and a good coach can help you with your audio and with your acting. Both are key to landing more jobs as well.

So there you have it - three ways to get more voice-over business from your demo reel. By following these tips, you'll be well on your way to booking more jobs and becoming a successful voice-over artist! Thanks for reading!
