No matter where you are in your voice-over journey, I have learned there are two categories of actions we can do daily:
First: Actions To Keep The Business running
These are the actions we must do to keep our voiceover business running day to day, like management, financiers, organization, bills, education, etc.
Second: Actions That Make Your Money
These actions are activities that generate opportunities to book voice-over work, like auditions, phone calls, emails, buyer requests, proposals, and much more.
These actions define the outcome of our business. My recommendation is that you spend eighty percent of your time working booking voiceover work, and twenty percent on the infrastructure of your business.
It is very easy for us to get caught up in rabbit hole after rabbit hole with an idea that takes us down a path that forces us to keep learning for hours instead of focusing on finding work now, instead of constantly building a new section of our business every night.
I have found myself doing this very thing to my business and I had to pull myself back from the edge.
The key here is to pick about 3-4 things a day that will make you the most money with the least amount of time. This will allow you to complete these voice over tasks each day. Also, these actions will help you avoid the roller-coaster effect. If you don't continue to market your voice-over business, you will experience peaks and valleys, which leads to frustration and no consistency.
