Beginner or Expert: which track fits you?

Five questions. You can take either track, and Anthony confirms it with you before you start.

1. Do you have a place to record?
2. Have you been paid for voice work?
3. Do you have a demo?
4. How many auditions do you send in a week?
5. What do you want most from the 12 weeks?
The 12-week plan

What happens each week?

There are two tracks, Beginner and Expert, and you can take either. Every session is one hour. Anthony follows the plan closely or changes it to fit you, because every voice actor is different.

Beginner

From set up to sent out

You've started, or you're about to, and you're not booking yet.

Weeks 1 to 4

Set up and sound real

  1. Your goal, your room, your gearYou record a short read in your own space. We set one goal for the 12 weeks and fix the biggest problem in your setup first.
  2. Recording and editingOne simple chain to record, edit and master, so your files pass audiobook audio checks every time.
  3. Acting: talk to one personReading versus talking. Commercial reads in different tones, with a note and a second take on each.
  4. Narration and audiobooksThe narrator, the characters and pacing over a long read. I tell you "ready" or the one thing to fix.
Weeks 5 to 8

Your commercial demo and your profiles

  1. Demo strategyWhere your voice fits, which spots suit you, and the scripts for your commercial demo.
  2. Rehearsal and first profilesWe rehearse your demo scripts. Your ACX and Academy Voices profiles go live.
  3. Your directed demo sessionI direct you through your commercial demo, live. Then it goes into production.
  4. The audition systemSend 10, review 3, fix 1. You build your rate card from the rate guide.
Weeks 9 to 12

Get seen and get booked

  1. Put your demo to workYour finished demo goes on your profiles and a simple page of your own.
  2. Where else to auditionCasting sites and freelance sites: which ones fit you, and when it's worth paying for one.
  3. Finding your own clientsThe three-part marketing plan: platforms, social media and direct outreach. How to quote and reply.
  4. Review and your next 90 daysWe compare your week 1 read with now, look at your numbers, and plan the next 90 days.
By week 12 you have
  • A setup that passes audiobook audio checks
  • Your commercial demo, directed and produced
  • Profiles live on ACX, Academy Voices and two more places
  • 30 or more auditions sent and logged
  • A rate card and a plan for your next 90 days
